Adopt a Dog in Need
Meet our beautiful dogs. Thank you for your interest in adopting!
Avery
Terrier (Unknown Type, Small), ,Hello, My name is Avery . . . I am a 2 ½ -year-old terrier blend boy who weighs 16 lbs. I am looking for my forever home with a dog savvy adopter, who is loving, patient and understands my needs. I haven’t had much human interaction in my life, so I’m learning the joy of being loved in my foster home. I rely on the other dogs in my foster home, so my new home MUST have another dog—or dogs—my size (or smaller).
General Behavior: Avery is a sensitive, happy boy who will spend most of his day playing with dog toys while wagging his tail. Avery has come a long way in his foster home, learning to trust and working through his separation anxiety. Avery is discovering that people, places and things can be okay.
Likes & Dislikes: Avery LOVES mealtime, and will gently eat out of your hand or take treats politely. Sunbathing is another favorite - he will happily lie right next to you in the sun and follow you back inside when you're done. He loves being close to his person, so a home where someone is around more often than not would be ideal.
Training: In his foster home, Avery has done great with house training and will need regular, consistent potty breaks in his new home. He is still working on his basic manners and his dislike of car rides and leashes.
Medical: Avery is a healthy pup! Like any other dog, he will just need monthly heartworm and flea prevention.
Other Animals: Avery has experience with calm, laid-back dogs and enjoys playing with the dogs in his foster home. Avery's new home MUST have at least one other dog his own size or smaller, and he cannot live with cats.
Children: Avery is extremely nervous around children, so a home without children is a must.
Home: Avery will need a single-family home with a fenced yard, as he tends to bark when his humans leave and he feels nervous on a leash. Avery has free rein of his foster’s home and does not enjoy being confined to a set space. When his foster returns, Avery greets them with enthusiasm! At night, he sleeps at the foot of the “big person” or in his own bed.
Grooming: Awesome Avery will need regular brushing and nail trims to keep him looking sharp. He even enjoys "spa nights"! After a little initial nervousness, Avery relaxed, closed his eyes and enjoyed being brushed.
Overall: If you are looking for a sweet boy who could quickly become your “little shadow”, Avery might be the one for you. In return, he asks for love, patience, understanding and a commitment to helping him live his best life. Remember, “slow and steady” is the way to go as you build trust and confidence together.
Are you the one for Avery? Please visit our website, www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with his foster family if it’s a potential match. Avery is fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and even had a recent dental. The adoption donation for Avery has been reduced thanks to a generous grant from Kia and the Petfinder Foundation, and is $350.

Scottie, Scottish Terrier, ,Hi! I'm Beau! I'm a sweet and laid-back 6-year-old, 14 lb Scottish Terrier. I’m the perfect companion for a calm family with plenty of love and snuggles to give—could that be you?
- General Behavior: Beau is a gentle and affectionate pup who loves nothing more than being close to his family. He’s quiet and maybe a bit shy at first, but once he feels comfortable, he’s all yours!
- Likes & Dislikes: Beautiful Beau is easygoing and simply happy to be in a loving, comforting home. He’s not particularly interested in toys but will occasionally pick one up for a quick toss.
- Training: This adorable pup is well-mannered and has been a wonderful houseguest in his foster home. He’s working on refining his basic training skills, walks beautifully on a leash, and does well with housetraining once settled into a routine. At night, he sleeps soundly in his bed.
- Medical: Despite not having many teeth, Beau is a healthy boy and only requires his monthly heartworm and flea preventative.
- Other Animals: A home with other dogs would be a great fit for Beau! He enjoys the company of his foster siblings, who help boost his confidence. He hasn’t met any cats yet, but we believe he would do just fine with them.
- Children: While Beau hasn’t met any children while in our care, we think his gentle nature would make him a great fit for a home with kids.
- Home: Beau would thrive in any type of home, as long as he gets the attention and top-tier snuggles he deserves.
- Grooming: Beau doesn’t require extensive grooming but may need occasional trims along with his regular baths.
- Overall: Beau is the perfect pup for a family looking for a calm, snuggly, and sometimes goofy companion.

Mixed Breed, ,Hi, I’m Bella, a sweet, affectionate, mixed-breed girl with a beautiful black & white coat. At 42 pounds and almost four years old, I have so much love to give, but I’ll need patience and love to help me overcome my fears. I know my fur-ever family will be so glad they gave me a chance!
General Behavior: Bella is a shy, gentle girl who has good basic manners and loves a good snuggle. She is most comfortable when her humans are in sight.
Likes & Dislikes: Bella loves her walks and getting out in the sunshine, as well as car rides, peanut butter in Kongs, and belly rubs. She doesn't like being alone and is fearful of new things and loud noises (vacuum, lawn mower, and dishwasher to name a few). She can take or leave toys but her playful side comes out as her confidence grows.
Training: This sweet girl walks well on a leash and has good basic manners. She is house trained in her foster home and will need to continue being let out on a regular and consistent schedule.
Medical: Bella takes Benadryl seasonally for allergies but otherwise only needs her heartworm and flea/tick preventive medicines like any pup.
Other Animals: Bella does well with dogs of all sizes and is experienced with calm, laid-back dogs and playful dogs. She would benefit from having another canine companion in her new home to help her adjust and feel safe. She does not have experience with cats, but her foster thinks she would be OK with them.
Children: This gentle girl is good with kids of all ages.
Home: Bella will do best in a single-family home. When her humans leave, she becomes anxious and may whine or bark at first until she builds confidence. Nonetheless, when home alone she can have free rein in the house and be left unsupervised with other dogs. Bella does best at night with a blanket to comfort her and enjoys sleeping in the people bed.
Grooming: This beautiful girl will just need baths and nail trims.
Overall: If you are looking for a faithful, affectionate companion who needs a little extra patience to build her confidence but will reward you forever with love, Bella may be the one for you!
Are you the one for Bella? Please visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. Bella is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption donation is $375.
