Adopt a Dog in Need
Meet our beautiful dogs. Thank you for your interest in adopting!
Copita
Shih Tzu, ,***LOCAL ADOPTION ONLY : Copita needs to be adopted by a family in the Central Florida region (Orlando area) who will commit to taking him to his follow-up vetting appointment for his dental cleaning with PPR's vetting partner in Sanford. This appointment has been scheduled, and the cost is covered in the adoption donation.***
Hello . . . My name is Copita and I am a 4-year-old Shih Tzu boy who weighs 8.2 lbs. I’m not a high-energy fella. I’m easygoing, super chill and more of a “relax and hang out” kind of boy. I’m looking for an equally chill forever home where we can enjoy life together.
Favorite Things: Copita loves food. Give him a treat and you will have an instant friendship. Toys are not really his thing. A perfect day for Copita is going for a walk, getting belly rubs and curling up next to his person. He is a simple guy who enjoys routine in his life.
Training & Manners: Copita is housebroken in his foster home. He walks well on a leash and tolerates car rides. Copita can be somewhat protective of his space and food and doesn’t like being suddenly grabbed. He can be nippy at times and needs an adopter who will understand his boundaries and work with him when he is feeling grumpy.
Health and Care: Copita is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Like any dog, he will need his monthly flea and heartworm prevention. He is currently scheduled for a dental cleaning at our veterinary partner in Sanford on May 21st – the cost of this is covered in your adoption donation. As a Shih Tzu, Copita will need professional grooming on a regular schedule, along with regular brushing to keep his coat healthy and comfortable.
Other Animals: Copita has experience with calm, laid back dogs. He lives with two dogs and a cat in his foster home and does well with them, especially since they are calm, non-dominant dogs.
Children: Copita will need a home without small children – respectful teenagers would be okay.
Ideal Home: Copita would do well in a single-family home, apartment or condo. As long as he gets his nice walks, he is content. He can stay home alone without issues and has free rein of his foster home. At the end of each day, he is happy to crash into his dog bed.
Overall: If you are looking for an independent, low-key companion who will happily keep you company (and nap right beside you), Copita could be a great fit for you.
Do you think Copita could be the one for you? If so, please visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org and submit an adoption application. If it looks like a good fit, his foster family will reach out with more information. His adoption donation is $400.
show lessDaisy
Maltese, Poodles (All Types),Hi . . . My name is Daisy and I am a sweet senior gal who is 10 years old. I’m a tiny Maltese/Poodle blend girl weighing just 7 lbs. I am vision impaired, but I don’t let that stop me from exploring . I truly appreciate my freedom, affection and care and would love to be the princess in my forever home.
Favorite Things: Daisy LOVES her food and loves soaking up attention. Toys and playing are not really her thing, but exploring her surroundings is high on her list of favorite things. She also loves being around her person and will sit next to them as much as possible (and extra close in bed at night).
Training & Manners: Daisy is working on her house training and will need to be taken outside frequently. Due to her vision, she doesn’t do well on a leash so will need more practice with leash walking. She has good basic manners and is highly food motivated. She is verbal when she wants food but is otherwise quiet.
Health and Care: Daisy is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is on daily drops for dry eyes and takes her monthly preventatives for fleas and heartworm. She will likely require professional grooming every 6-8 weeks to keep her looking and feeling her best.
Other Animals: Daisy has experience with other small dogs and cats.
Children: This gentle, curious gal would do best in a home with respectful teens.
Ideal Home: Daisy would do well in an apartment, condo or single-family home. Her “dream” home would be a house without steps (although she is tiny enough to carry) and no pool (for safety reasons with her vision impairment). A fenced yard would keep her safe and give her room for her adventurous explorations. She has free rein of her foster home and can be left for several hours without issues. She sleeps in the “people bed” at night and is happy to cozy up to her person.
Overall: Daisy is a great and loyal companion asking only for food, love and attention.
Could Daisy be the one for you? If so, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org and submit an adoption application. If it looks like a good fit, her foster family will reach out with more information. Her adoption donation is $200.

Dunkaroo
Boston Terrier, Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium),***Local adoption only: Dunkaroo needs to be adopted by a family in the Central Florida region (Orlando area) who will commit to taking him to his follow-up vetting appointments for remaining vaccines and neuter with PPR's vetting partner. These appointments have already been scheduled and their cost is covered in the adoption donation.***
Hi, I’m Dunkaroo! I'm a Boston Terrier blend and I'm just 3 months old. We don't know how big I'll grow to be yet, but currently I'm just a strapping 9 pounds. Part Kangaroo, part Dunkin Donuts-level of sweetness, I'm just your typical puppy who loves snacks, snuggles, toys, and playtime and who is looking for someone who will love me forever.
Favorite Things: Dunkaroo is all puppy. He loves toys: the more, the merrier (particularly if he can chew them). He is an active and energetic pup, loves playtime and he is a bit of a foodie.
Training & Manners: This smart cookie has learned a lot in his three months, but he still has some tricks to pick up. He needs more practice with housetraining (but picking up on it quickly), leash-walking, etc. He will need an adopter who is an experienced dog owner and who is active and willing to put in the training that is needed to raise a young puppy.
Health & Care: Dunkaroo is a healthy pup! He will just need an adopter who will commit to taking him to his final puppy vetting appointments (including neuter). These have already been scheduled with PPR’s vet partner in Central Florida and are covered by his adoption donation. As far grooming goes, this easygoing guy shouldn't need too much elaborate grooming.
Other Animals: An energetic, gregarious guy, Dunkaroo does well with other playful dogs
Children: This bouncy guy gets along well with older children (ages 8+) who can match his activity level.
Ideal Home: This sweet guy would do best in a single family home, because he is still adjusting to being left alone as a young puppy so he barks and cries when left alone.
Overall: Do you think adopting Dunkaroo would be a slam dunk? If so, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to fill out an adoption application. If it seems like a good match, our team will reach out with more information. His adoption donation is $475.

Permanent Residents
Some of our dogs will stay in our care forever. Some have been through so much change and trauma in their lives that putting them through more change isn’t in their best interest, others may have medical needs or need hospice care – these dogs will remain in PPR foster care for the rest of their lives as Permanent Residents.
Apply To foster
When you become a foster parent, you are playing a significant role in our rescue program. When you invite a dog into your home, you provide the love, patience, and guidance to a little dog in need, and Poodle and Pooch Rescue provides the rest! We are responsible for all vetting, grooming, and medical needs the dog may have, all you have to do is treat the dog as if it’s your own. A typical fostering lasts 2 to 3 weeks, and you are never stuck with a dog. You choose the dogs you want to foster, and you are free to foster at your own convenience. If for whatever reason the dog you choose doesn’t fit into your lifestyle, we will simply place the dog into a new foster family. You get to enjoy the companionship of a dog without the lifelong commitment.
