Lara and Sean

Lara started volunteering with PPR in 2016 after completing chemotherapy. She wanted to be involved in the community, but couldn’t be too involved with people, due to her immune system, so helping dogs was the perfect thing! Little did she realize the positive impact it would have on her family.

Fostering is truly a family affair for Lara, Sean and their 4 young children. They’re all actively involved in caring for the foster dogs, fostering 50+ dogs so far! It’s been a great experience for the children – helping them learn responsibility, discipline, empathy, etc. What started out as a purely outward work, has in turn helped the entire family.

Lara and family are well known at PPR for fostering litters of puppies. That definitely takes a special kind of effort to care for puppies and get them ready for their new families. Besides fostering, Lara also worked on the Donor Team for a little while where she was writing about our dogs and keeping PPR’s donors informed on the great rescue work we’re doing.

“I like volunteering with PPR because of the great work PPR does as a team. I also need to work with organizations that are trustworthy and make a positive change in our world – which PPR does in full! I like to foster knowing that I can be a part of the process in finding the dogs their forever homes. I also like the teamwork that it builds in my own family.”

Lara and family live out in the country in Central Florida. Along with their goats, chickens, rabbits, and fish, they have 7 dogs – one for each person, except Mommy has two!
