Last week our volunteers, Rebecca and Deb, and our tiny permanent resident, Lala, visited the 3rd grade class at Park Maitland School to collect donations.
Mrs. Dawson started a civic outreach adventure called “Brady’s Stocking” to raise donations for and awareness about animal rescue. Brady is a senior pooch and the face of the school’s community outreach program. He’s a service pup that visits local hospitals, has offered companionship for kids in crisis and has been Park Maitland School’s animal ambassador for eight years. He’s a true canine hero! Each year Mrs. Dawson gets the 3rd grade class (500 students!!) involved to collect supplies for local rescue groups in his honor and this year, PPR was the lucky recipient!
The administration and class were so warm and welcoming and we were blown away by what an impressive school Park Maitland is! Not only did these kids and their families collect items for PPR, they helped a local cat rescue and a bird rescue too – so cool! It was really heartwarming seeing everyone so invested and genuinely excited. It was such a fun day! And the kids LOVED Lala – she was a hit and offered loads of kisses and snuggles!
Thank you for making such a pawsitive difference in our community, and for teaching such important values to our youth, Mrs. Dawson. And a HUGE thanks to the incredible 3rd grade class of Park Maitland School – you guys ROCK!
