PPR Saves Suspected Bait Dog

An urgent call for help came and PPR stepped up as usual. This young pup, Murphy, needed immediate medical attention. An exam found multiple bite wounds, puncture wounds, and open abrasions – typical signs of a bait dog. Many of the wounds were infected. He is also underweight (another sign that he was used as a bait dog, they underfed him to keep him weak and unable to defend himself properly). Murphy is obviously missing a large part of his upper lip and the left part of his face. He has several broken and missing teeth and his mouth is infected and inflamed.

Murphy just breaks our heart. The amount of violence and pain he has been through has left him a scared and shy pup. The always amazing Dr. Peters at East Orlando Animal Hospital puts his age around 10 months. That means whatever he has suffered, he has endured it his whole life. He’s very sweet and so gentle, but so very afraid and had to be carried at the vet’s office – he won’t walk due to fear.

Murphy has a long road to recovery, both physically and emotionally, but we are already seeing some improvement and he is in better spirits every day.

We’ll keep you updated on Murphy’s progress. Thank you all for your support and helping us pay for his around the clock medical care.
