Sweetie is an adorable Chihuahua/Dachshund mix (Chiweenie) whose family was moving and could not take her and her siblings with them. They were surrendered to a local animal shelter before landing into PPR care. All of the dogs had lived their entire lives outside and, as is often the case, Sweetie was heartworm positive. PPR’s veterinary partners attended to her needs, spaying her and bring her vaccines up to date before starting her heartworm treatment and placing her into foster care for the long recovery process. Sweetie’s foster family started volunteering with PPR in October and agreed to foster her and one other heartworm positive dog; little did they know that Miss Sweetie would never leave. Sweetie fell head over heels in love with the young girl in her family. These two became best buddies and do everything together. Sweetie doesn’t leave her sister’s side…when her sister isn’t home, Sweetie seems sad. The family decided they couldn’t possibly separate these two, so Sweetie is staying right where she is with her bestie! Welcome home, Sweetie!
