Dottie is a young terrier mix that was found in an area close to the Everglades that is a known spot for dumping animals. Dottie loves other dogs but is initially very nervous around people. Upon intake, Dottie was evaluated by PPR’s veterinary partners and estimated to be about 2 ½ years old and weighed 21 pounds. She was covered in fleas and ticks when brought into care; surprisingly, she tested negative for heartworm disease but she did test positive for a disease that is spread by ticks. The vet team immediately started to treat the tickborne disease and brought her vaccines up-to-date, and scheduled her spay and dental surgery a month later. Once her vetting was complete, she was listed for adoption on the PPR website and caught the attention her new family. At her new home she has a fur brother, Teddy, a 13 year old Cocker Spaniel/Sheltie mix that her new family had adopted from PPR 11 years ago! The family has a great backyard and Dottie’s new Dad works from home so she is rarely alone. Welcome home, Dottie!
