Facebook figured out Michelle was a softie for ALL dog stories—happy, sad, and everything in between. Scrolling through her feed reminds her daily of the needs out there, and back at the beginning of 2021, she decided to do something about it.
After a lot of research, she stumbled upon the PPR website and was impressed by our heart for the “leftovers.” She hadn’t convinced her hubby to let her foster, so she volunteered to write content for the PPR website. She says “It felt great to put my skills to work for an organization that made such a difference.”
Michelle didn’t really find her “sweet spot” at PPR though until her husband gifted her a “YES” to fostering. Since that time, she’s been able to help six pups on their journey to finding “fur-ever” homes. She told us her three favorite things about fostering for Poodle and Pooch are:
1. She feels very supported through the whole process. She’s never felt like she would get “stuck” with a hard situation.
2. There is zero pressure to take on a dog. As much as she would like to help every pup that needs a foster, there are seasons in her home when it wouldn’t work out, and that’s okay.
3. She helps choose which family will be the best fit for the dog she’s had in her home. It’s easy to fall in love, but knowing she has a deciding voice on which family would be perfect, is very rewarding.
Besides being a great foster mom for us, Michelle is a content creator, working from home with her big boy Riot (Cane Corso) and her sweet senior, Angel (Lab/Pit mix). Between work and pups, she loves spending time with her hubby, six grown kids, their spouses, and one very loved grandbaby.
Michelle says, “Poodle and Pooch Rescue has given me a great outlet to serve in an area I am passionate about, and THAT feels really good.”
Thank you Michelle – we appreciate all that you do for PPR!
