Poodle and Pooch changed for the better seven years ago, when Mary Beth answered our call for help.
With unending energy, she does it all. Mary Beth, a board member since 2019, started as a foster, then joined the media team to write bios and social media posts to help get dogs adopted. Now, in between being a foster coordinator and ferrying dogs where they need to go, she’s focused on grant writing and helping with fundraisers. This is a key role to raise awareness for our rescue and make sure we have the money to keep saving as many dogs as we can.
For Mary Beth, it’s all a labor of love.
“Volunteering with PPR truly feeds my soul,” she says. “I love being able to give back to an organization that aligns with my values and goals and does such good in the world.”
Mary Beth fell in love with the very first dog she fostered – Coco the Pomeranian. It was with a heavy heart that she handed Coco off to her new adopters. But the family called five days later, saying Coco wasn’t a good fit. “It was meant to be that she came back to me,” Mary Beth says. Sadly, Coco – her “heart and soul” dog – died a couple of years ago. And her sweet dog Charli passed away this year.
Mary Beth and her partner, Bonnie, currently have three dogs they dote on: Sydney, Daisy and Jackson. Despite the pain of loss, she always makes time for pooches in need.
“Mary Beth is the reason why PPR is able to save the “leftovers” – the medical cases, the seniors, the dogs left behind,” board member Carson Byrnes says.
We all appreciate Mary Beth and her commitment to Poodle and Pooch!
“Not only is she one of the hardest working people, she’s also the kindest,” President Rebecca Lynch says. “Her heart is huge and her generosity to our organization is beyond measure.”
