Volunteer Spotlight – Jim

This month, Jim is celebrating his one-year anniversary as a foster dad with PPR! He and his son had an awesome Lab rescue who lived to 15. Missing a dog in his life, he was thinking about adopting again but never found the right pup. One of his friends, who adopted a dog from us, mentioned that PPR always needed fosters. After looking into it he decided to give it a try and we’re so glad he did.

Jim has a 10-year-old cat who is not a fan of any of the foster dogs that come into the house but serves as a great “cat-tester” for the dogs. And lucky for Jim, he still gets to see his 3rd foster dog because his son adopted him (Archer, seen in the picture with Jim).

About volunteering as a foster dad, Jim says, “I like knowing I’m serving as a vital part of the process of rescuing a dog in need and placing the dog with an appropriate forever family. It makes me happy I’m filling a role that isn’t easy or possible for some folks to fill.”

Jim’s a long-time resident of Orlando and is the chair of an academic department at UCF. He’s the single, adoptive father of one son, now 24, who is also a big dog lover. Jim enjoys reading, gardening, pets, the beach, cards with friends, and obsessively thrift shopping.

We appreciate you, Jim!
