Volunteer Spotlight – Donna

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and today’s Volunteer Spotlight is on Donna!

Donna was introduced to PPR when her sister-in-law started talking to her about volunteering with us. After looking at the PPR web site, she knew she wanted to get involved once she and her husband retired and moved to Florida. She started volunteering with PPR in early 2022. Donna works on the applications team, reviewing adoption applications by doing vet checks, verifying home situations, communicating with applicants to verify information, and making sure the potential adopter will be a good match for the dog they are applying for.

Donna says that her favorite thing about volunteering for PPR is that she has the opportunity nearly every day to potentially impact the life of a dog in need. She takes it seriously, feeling that if she does her due diligence on each application, she can approve an application that may result in the dog getting a loving, forever home. There are so many dogs in need, and she is humbled to be even a small part of the process.

While Donna loved her previous career working in a District Attorney’s office in PA, she always joked that her dream would have been to have a dog farm….which translates to her wanting to work with dogs, or in the case of PPR, for dogs.

Donna has two lovely daughters and is a proud “Mimi” of three grandchildren. She has two dogs -Shelby, a Jack Russell Terrier and Toby, a Lhasa-poo.

Thank you Donna, for joining the PPR team and making a difference in the lives of so many dogs in need!
