After losing two of her dogs within several months of each other, Dolly wanted another dog. She asked her vet’s office what rescue they recommended, it was PPR. She ended up adopting a dog from us, really liked the whole process and decided to start volunteering with PPR. This was back in 2014 and we are so glad she joined our team!
Dolly and her husband Ron started out transporting PPR dogs from shelters or other places, to our vet partners in Orlando. As a side benefit, Dolly says by traveling around the Central Florida area she and Ron always find new places to go to for lunch! Next she started fostering – Buster was her first foster dog and 20+ dogs later she is still a foster mom. She and Ron really like fostering senior and special needs dogs, as well as permanent resident dogs. Dolly is also on the application team. As if that’s not enough, she regularly participates in our special events where she brings her special needs / permanent resident dogs to help educate the public on how PPR embraces these dogs and how much they can enrich your life.
Since joining PPR, Dolly and Ron have “foster failed” five dogs, with the oldest one being 16 years old. They currently have three PPR dogs in their home.
When asking Dolly what she loves about volunteering with us, she says: “I love the whole PPR rescue process. Having volunteered so long with PPR, I truly believe in the adopt don’t shop mantra. PPR gives 110%….all for the dogs. It’s a truly enjoyable group to volunteer with and be part of.”
Thank you Dolly, for volunteering with us for so long, in so many ways, and for making a difference in the lives of dogs in need!
