Volunteering for a dog rescue is undeniably hard. On any day, at any moment, an urgent call can come in: Another dog needs help. Carson, volunteer and board member, never says no. She always shows up. And she doesn’t complain, even when the number of desperate dogs seems never ending.
“Carson has been a godsend for me and Poodle and Pooch,” says Rebecca Lynch, our president. “She’s a true rescuer.”
Just this month, we jumped in to save some of the 200 dogs found in a Putnam County hoarder home, most in terrible shape and some pregnant. Poodle and Pooch volunteered to take 25 of the dogs, getting them care at our partner vets and then into foster homes for some much-needed decompression and assessment.
Who was helping on this effort? Carson, of course, who was knee deep in coordinating the urgent operation. That was in between cleaning up vomit and diarrhea for her current foster dog Nana, along with multiple trips to the doggie ER. Thanks to Carson’s love and care, Nana is doing better. That’s not unusual. Carson often takes the toughest cases.
Carson and her husband, Oli, also have two dogs of their own, Pretzels and Snacks. Snacks is very involved in testing out foster dogs that come into the home.
A volunteer since 2017, Carson has taken on countless roles: foster mom, transporter, foster coordinator, veterinary liaison and a critical member of our intake team. No job is too small.
Carson – you are a ROCK STAR!
