Volunteer Spotlight – Alex

Alex started fostering for Poodle & Pooch Rescue in early 2022. She’s been an animal lover since she was a child, and knew once she had the ability to, she wanted to foster dogs, particularly seniors, who may have been looked over due to their age. Once she found out that Poodle and Pooch specialized in saving senior and medical need dogs, she knew we were the rescue she wanted to work with.

In little over a year with us, Alex has already fostered 15+ dogs. One of those is permanent resident Junnie.

About fostering, Alex says, “My favorite thing about volunteering for PPR is getting to see dogs transform while in care. Two of my previous fosters came in heartworm positive, and in rough condition. With treatment, and some love and care, they transformed into healthy and loving dogs. Each and every pooch has touched my heart and I am so grateful to be a part of the journey into their forever homes.”

Alex grew up in the Orlando area, with her childhood Chihuahuas, Scooter and Penny. She now lives in Winter Park with her senior chihuahua, Walnut, her PPR Permanent Resident Junnie, and her two cats, Choo Choo and Smokey. She is thankful to work from home in the insurance industry so that she’s able to be home with the doggos all day!

Thank you Alex, for your dedication to the dogs of PPR!
