UNCLUTTER.
- Choose a spot with an uncluttered background, or plan on blurring objects out of your control.
THE RIGHT LIGHT.
- If you’re shooting indoors, position your dog with a large window behind you. This illuminates the details of his/her facial features; poorly lit areas will give you a black blob look.
- Choose a room that’s flooded with diffused light & is bright, but not in direct sunlight.
- Avoid using flash. This creates a harsh, yellow-tinged light that won’t do that black coat justice
SEEK SHADE.
- It’s a misconception that black dogs are best photographed in direct sunlight – shade is actually best for outdoor pics.
- Choose an area of open shade, such as under a covered patio, & position the dog so the source of the light shines in from behind you. This accentuates your dog’s eyes – a great feature for black dogs!
COLOR.
- Bandanas work well – use colorful ones to make pictures pop.
