Saving Simone

Simone was found in an area near Miami called “The Redlands”. It’s a mostly agricultural area that many people go to dump their dogs when local shelters no longer accept any intake.

Simone had been hit by a car. She was bruised, cut, sore, and covered in road rash. Thank goodness she was found when she was because the car accident wasn’t her biggest threat. She also had pyometra, a life threatening infection of the uterus, and was rushed into emergency surgery.

At this point she was transported to PPR where we did radiographs on her which indicated one of her legs needed surgery to be pinned, her pelvis is fractured, and she required FHO surgery where they remove part of the leg bone at the hip joint so it will then refit into the socket.

This sweet baby is only 8 months old and already she has seen so much pain and needless suffering. While her scrapes and cuts are healing, she’s expressing limited mobility. When she heals fully from her injuries, we’ll start her on physical therapy to help her regain her strength and get her body back to where it should have always been.

Starvation, lack of clean water, traumatic injury, and life threatening infection may not be the best start to sweet Simone’s life, but we will make sure that all changes and she gets the life she truly deserves.
