No journey is ever a straight road and no one knows that better than our little Molly. She was improving and her skin was getting better and her fur growing back.
And then she had a flare up. The worst she’s had yet.
Molly has an autoimmune disorder that causes her skin to be covered in pustules that burst, scab over, and then the scabs fall off. Needless to say it makes her quite uncomfortable.
With one call to Veterinary Dermatology Center we had a new, super shampoo and a new oral medicine to try. The shampoo was working and her skin was improving, but Molly developed tummy issues. We stopped her new meds and In a couple of days she was back to normal. And then she got a head cold. She was all congested, had a yucky nose and a possible upper respiratory infection. Back to VDC and the staff wrapped her in a blanket (it was a chilly morning) and took her into their office and began helping her and spoiling her.
They started her on probiotics for her sensitive tummy, antibiotics for her respiratory issue, and a game plan. Molly will still have a medicated bath every other day, but will rotate the super shampoo and the normal medicated shampoo. We’ll also start to slowly integrate Molly’s meds back and see how her tummy does. Once everything is good, the medicine will hopefully help stabilize her and prevent future skin episodes.
Through it all, the staff of Veterinary Dermatology Center have been warm and welcoming. They spoil Molly and she looks forward to her visits there. Their dedication and knowledge will help us find the right combination of meds and shampoos to keep Molly happy and healthy for years to come.
Molly still has a while before she is ready for her forever home. We want to make sure she is stabilized and strong so she can go into her forever home knowing she can overcome anything!
Thank you to the wonderful staff of VDC in Maitland for helping our girl! 💕
