Many of the special needs dogs you see featured on our website and social media are senior dogs, and often small dogs. But here at PPR, special needs dogs come in all shapes and sizes! Bella is a Coonhound and Terrier blend girl, who is only five months old. She will be a big girl when she grows up. Bella came to us with congenital cataracts; her vision is limited.
She recently visited veterinary ophthalmologist, Dr. Fife, and he can perform a surgery to help restore her vision. Bella’s surgery isn’t a standard cataract surgery, it’s complicated, but it’s her best shot at seeing clearly. Dr. Fife recommends operating on just one eye, for now at least.
Bella has her entire life ahead of her and we’d like to be able to give her the gift of vision so she can see how bright her future is firsthand. Bella’s best chance at maintaining vision long-term would be surgery to remove the lens. This is a very expensive surgery but with it we can give this puppy a chance at living her life with vision!
