We had an emergency call this afternoon. A dog was brought into animal services with a gaping wound on his side. We have no history on the pup and no idea what happened, but we knew we had to help.
One of our volunteers raced to the shelter to get Gus and took him to our vetting partners at East Orlando Animal Hospital. There he will be examined, his wound flushed and cleaned, and he’ll be given fluids and pain meds. How this precious pup is even still standing is beyond our comprehension.
We’ll get a treatment plan in place and start him on the path to recovery. Never again will Gus be abandoned and neglected. And, while our hearts break at the unimaginable distress he has been in, Gus remains a calm and loving boy, happy with an ear scratch and quick to give kisses. His spirit is amazing and we will do everything in our power to give Gus the life he deserves.
