Adoptable dog Pearl is stopping by to share some summer holiday safety tips before the festivities kick off!
More dogs go missing on July 4th than any other day of the year. Keep your pups safe with these tips:
1.Be sure your dog is wearing an up-to-date and visible tag at all times. If your dog is microchipped, be sure the information is up-to-date.
2. Hosting a party? Keep your dog in a safe place away from guests and open doors.
3. A tired dog has less energy to be anxious. Go for a long walk before fireworks begin to set your dog up for success.
4. Mask loud, sudden booms with white noise, gentle music or the TV.
5. Anxious dogs become flight risks. Use a harness and leash when you go outside. Never leave a dog alone outside, even with a fence.
6. Give dogs access to a safe, cozy space to retreat to, like a closet or quiet corner. Make it comforting with blankets and something that smells like you.
7. Keep charcoal, sparklers, fireworks, glow sticks and unhealthy party snacks away from curious pups.
Please stay safe, protect your pups and have a happy holiday!
