Perry is a sweet, middle-aged, small Labrador Retriever mix that was dumped in a box (along with 2 other dogs) at the end of a driveway in the hot sun of South Florida. Reportedly the local shelters were above capacity so they could no longer take in owner surrenders; thus people resorted to simply dumping their animals. When Perry came into PPR care he was estimated to be about 8 years old and 19 lbs. Not surprisingly, he tested positive for heartworms; on the other hand, his teeth were in pretty good shape and he had been neutered. PPR’s vetting partners brought all of his vaccines up to date, treated his heartworms and placed him into foster care. Unfortunately, he was in foster care for quite a little while…there was little interest in him on the PPR website. But sometimes, the waiting is for a reason – he now has a new family that loves him to pieces and accepts him for who he is. He is not a dog that loves lots of attention, but he will curl up with his mom for petting and belly rubs. They have given him his own chair with a comfy dog bed on the lanai that is perfect for snoozing. He loves his walks, and his adopters love having a pup again to care for and to dote on after their most recent dog passed away just a few months ago. Welcome to your new, pampered life, Perry!
