Nina is a beautiful Shih-Tzu/Havanese mix girl that came into PPR care by way of a Good Samaritan who seeks to rescue dogs from bad situations and/or rural shelters and partners with rescue groups to help them find forever homes. Upon intake she was estimated to be 3 years old and weighed about 13 lbs; she had been shaved down because her coat was horribly matted and she was covered in fleas. PPR’s veterinary partners brought all of her vaccinations up to date, gave her teeth a good cleaning, spayed and microchipped her before placing her into foster care. Her foster mom had suffered a lot of turmoil over past year – she lost her spouse and two dogs. She still had a dog, Gracie, that she could tell was suffering, too…she thought fostering seemed like a possible solution to provide Gracie some comfort and socialization. Nina came into the house and very soon after Gracie started to run and to play. It was probably one evening when Nina climbed into her foster Mom’s lap and fell asleep that her foster Mom knew that Nina was forever home. Welcome home, Nina!
