Sweet, goofy Chip is a German Shorthair Pointer that came into PPR care from a small, rural shelter in Florida. The facility is very small and its one animal control officer works 3 other jobs, yet they are adamant about getting their dogs to rescue organizations that can properly care for and place their dogs. Chip was about 2 ½ years old at intake and very emaciated; he was full of parasites, had ear mites and, as expected, heartworm positive. Nevertheless, he is a silly, goofy, wiggly boy that loves everybody! PPR brought him into care and started the process of bringing the boy back to health. Because he was so underweight the veterinary team had to weight to start his heartworm treatment and neuter him; but ultimately, all was accomplished. His treatment and recovery took over three months. His foster family, when they learned he was a German Shorthair Pointer jumped at the opportunity to foster him in spite of his prolonged period; they had always wanted this breed of dog and had almost adopted one previously. They took amazing care of the energetic boy, managing to keep him calm during his convalescence. They love him and were just waiting until his treatment was complete so they could confirm that his temperament and energy level matched that of their existing dog, Teddy…and it did! It certainly feels like fate intervened here to make this perfect match. Chip now has a new name to go along with his new home – Chip is now known as Chuck. Welcome home, Chip/Chuck!
