The Incredible Rescue

Willow has a truly incredible story. She was left at a construction site (seemingly dumped there) and wandered the area for some time, eluding capture. When the workers packed up for the evening and hit the road one night, little did they know, Willow was in tow. Willow sneaked onto the trailer and hid underneath the heavy machinery for the ride. She traveled for almost an hour on a busy highway at speeds exceeding 70 mph; she just cowered there and somehow managed to survive the trip. A couple traveling the highway rode behind the trailer and noticed the tiny dog under the equipment. They flagged down the driver, he pulled over and couldn’t believe this little girl was back there. They were able to successfully trap, rescue and bring her to safety.

Willow was brought home by the kind people that noticed her on the trailer – they bathed her and pulled more than 25 ticks from her frail body. Willow is filthy, matted, underweight, dehydrated, flea infested and still loaded with ticks from nose to tail.

She just arrived safely with our vetting partner, East Orlando Animal Hospital, under Dr. Peters’ care. She joins a couple of our other special cases, Gus and Sprout, and she’s now in excellent, caring hands. If you’re able to help us with Willow’s veterinary care and the start to her new beginning, please click the yellow “Donate Now” button at the top of the page, and be sure to notate “Willow” in the notes field. Thank you, as always!
