UPDATE – PLEASE NOTE: All of these dogs have since been adopted and are living their best lives in forever homes – we appreciate all of the support and the people that made this happen!
Feb. 2022 We have a long road ahead of us as we took in 22 dogs from a backyard breeder who are in horrific shape. Almost all of them are heartworm positive, they are covered in feces from head to tail, many have cataracts despite the fact that they’re relatively young, their mouths are absolutely atrocious, many have ear mites and the list goes on and on.
All 22 pups are getting full exams, basic tests like fecal and heartworm, baths, grooms, full sets of vaccinations, spays and neuters, dentals (with extractions), they’re being started on oral antibiotics for upper respiratory infections and all will need full bloodwork panels given their condition.
There are likely to be lots of surgeries needed, whether for hip or knee issues or for mammary tumors. We’ll treat the most urgent dogs and their needs first, and then space out the spays, neuters, and dentals based on the pup’s overall health and the availability of our vetting partners.
What we need now are donations to cover the mountain of medical expenses that are building up. Special needs dogs like these will not only need a lot of medical attention, but also the time to decompress and learn that they are now safe, loved, and will never experience those horrors again.
If you would like to donate to their vetting needs, you can do so directly through this post, via PayPal at give2ppr.com, Venmo @Poodleand-PoochRescue, or mail a check to Poodle and Pooch Rescue 1742 S Woodland Blvd. #428 DeLand, FL 32720
