Volunteer Spotlight – Amy

Amy and her daughter started fostering for us a year and a half ago after a friend of hers introduced her to PPR, telling her we were a great rescue. Amy’s Great Pyrenees mix pup, Skylar, was great with any dogs she met, as well as cats (there are 4 cats in the family), and since PPR doesn’t have a lot of fosters who can take big dogs, we were thrilled when she applied to foster.

They found their niche with us and have fostered almost PPR 10 dogs so far, sometimes two at a time! This includes a bonded pair of Labradoodle brothers, a few dogs from hoarding cases, and a few backyard breeder pups.

About volunteering, Amy says, “I love fostering and giving pups a safe place to decompress and relax on their way to their forever homes. Some of the dogs come from rough conditions, so being able to give them a place to relearn how to be carefree and to trust humans is incredibly fulfilling. I also enjoy working with my daughter to share my love of animals and teaching her the importance of fostering. I’m a firm believer in “If you can do something, you should do something.” I also love that Disney allows me to count my hours fostering as “VoluntEAR” hours that award grants to PPR!”

Amy is a single mom, working for Disney on their websites and mobile apps. Her 10-year-old daughter is a “dog-whisperer”. She loves meeting the new foster dogs, is great at training them and is a terrific barometer for how fosters do with smaller humans. In their free time, they love doing arts and crafts, gardening, visiting with friends and enjoying the Disney Parks. Their family consists of 6 birds, 4 cats and 1 large dog.

Thank you Amy (and family!), for volunteering with PPR and making a difference!
